The Important Fall Estates Auction will be held the weekend of November 16th and 17th, online and in Crescent City’s gallery at 1330 St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans, at 9 am on Saturday, Nov. 16 (lots 1-600), and 10 am on Sunday, Nov. 17 (lots 601-862). Times quoted are Central. Internet bidding is provided by the platforms LiveAuctioneers.com and Invaluable.com.

The fossilized woolly mammoth tusk is 66 inches across from tip to tip and is nicely mounted on a steel stand, giving the piece an overall height of 51 ½ inches. It’s expected to bring $10,000-$15,000. The Steinway Model L ebonized baby grand player piano (1981, serial #477074) comes with a lift-top music bench $8,000-$15,000).

The 19th century Russian icons include the Virgin of Kazan (St. Petersburg), with a silver and enamel oklad and the maker’s mark of Ivan Khlebnikov. The signed oil painting by Richard Hume Lancaster, 35 inches by 50 ¾ inches, is titled Repairs to a Pier (est. $3,000-$5,000). Lancaster was a British artist and clergyman. He was rector at Warnford Rectory in Hampshire.

The men’s Rolex watches are being sold by court order and include a Rolex Datejust Oyster Perpetual wristwatch with a black dial and stainless band (est. $5,000-$7,000); and a Rolex Datejust Oyster Perpetual Milgauss wristwatch with a black dial, green sapphire crystal and stainless band (est. $4,000-$8,000). Both come with original invoices and presentation boxes.

The auction is packed with the broad mix of merchandise people have come to expect from a Crescent City auction: fine period French, American and European furniture, original artworks by New Orleans and other regional artists, original artworks by American and foreign artists, estate jewelry, French clocks, Asian objects, Russian icons and gorgeous decorative accessories.

Items will range from a group of twelve 20th century Chinese polychromed glazed clay figures (est. $6,000-$8,000); to an African power board from the Ejagham people of Upper Volta and Nigeria, the Leopard Spirit Society (est. $4,000-$8,000); to a fine pair of 19th century Venetian polychromed carved wooden blackamoor gondolier figures, 21 ½ inches tall (est. $700-$1,200).

Original artwork by New Orleans artists will feature a mixed media painting by Noel Rockmore (1928-1995), titled Osiris (circa 1990), from Rockmore’s Egyptian Series, 47 ½ inches by 35 ½ inches (est. $1,000-$2,000). Also sold will be an unsigned 19th century French School oil on canvas painting titled Battle Scene, measuring 28 ¼ inches by 35 ¾ inches (est. $600-$900).

Two oil on canvas portraits attributed to Frederic R. Spencer (N.Y., 1806-1875), titled Portrait of a Gentleman in an Armchair and Portrait of a Woman in a Lace Scarf, will be offered as a single lot, with an estimate of $2,000-$4,000. Also, a 19th century oil on canvas painting by Charles Warren Eaton (American, 1857-1973), titled Bare Trees on the Edge of a Field at Sunset, signed lower left, carries an estimate of $2,000-$3,000.

French period furniture items, a staple at most Crescent City auctions, will feature the following:

• A 19th century French Empire style ormolu mounted carved mahogany bonnetiere, 95 inches tall by 47 inches wide (est. $1,000-$2,000).
• A 19th century French provincial Louis Philippe carved cherry sideboard, 43 inches tall by 68 inches wide (est. $800-$1,200).
• A 19th century French provincial carved inlaid walnut vaisselier, 85 inches tall by 67 inches wide (est. $800-$1,200).
• A circa 1850 French Empire style carved cherry commode, 34 ¼ inches tall by 45 ½ inches wide (est. $800-$1,200).

American-made period furniture will include a 20th century Victorian style carved rosewood high-back double bed, 94 inches tall by 76 inches long (est. $800-$1,200); and a 19th century American Classical ormolu mounted carved mahogany settee, 77 inches wide (est. $700-$1,000).

Period furniture from Europe will feature an English inlaid burled oyster walnut Georgian chest from the early 19th century, 39 inches tall (est. $800-$1,200); and a late 19th century Dutch style inlaid walnut ormolu mounted bombe secretary chest, 39 inches in height (est. $700-$1,000).

Exceptional 19th century clocks will be led by a French Empire style gilt bronze figural mantel clock, 18 ½ inches in height (est. $1,500-$2,500); and a French gilt bronze figural and ocher marble mantel clock with a large allegorical figure of “Knowledge” and the outer ring of the face mounted with the twelve relief figures of the zodiac, standing 22 ½ inches tall (est. $600-$900).

Also offered will be an impressive three-piece patinated spelter figural clock set from the late 19th century, with a clock depicting Neptune on a shell borne by two horses, together with a pair of 19 ½ inch tall patinated spelter garniture vases depicting maritime rescuers (est. $500-$900).

Estate jewelry will feature a selection of platinum and gold pieces, to include diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds. Lighting will feature a circa 1970 Lightolier Art Deco style tiered glass rod 21-light chandelier by Italian designer Gaetano Sciolari (1927-1994) (est. $1,000-$2,000).

According to Anil Batra, who is the founder of a corporate gifting company, BusinessGifts.in, the market sentiment is extremely low which has dampened the festive vibe and thus, gifting has taken a backseat.

Batra has seen a drastic drop of 30 per cent in sales this year. Stating an example, he said, “A customer had ordered for 1,500 products last year is now ordering for 1,200 this year. Also, the budgets have reduced, too. The products in the lower range are expensive for us. Currently, most products are imported from Southeast Asian countries, according to him, since import costs are high, the gifts are costlier as well.”

Anmol Manuj Goel, Founder of Anmol Enterprises, a Delhi-based gifting product importer has faced a decline of orders up to 60 per cent. Not only that, the cost of importing these products has turned extremely costly this year as he had to pay twice the customs duty.

“We are facing several issues with the unruly policies, increase in taxes and customs duties. If the cost of import increases, naturally the cost of the product will increase. We have a lot of inventory on our books, our cash flow has become lesser because of GST and also the markets has a tight cash flow,” Goel added.

As far as employee engagement budgets by corporates are concerned, a few of ExtraMile’s clients have reduced their budgets by almost 10 per cent and then there are a few players who come with a budget which is almost 25 per cent less than the market rates, Pooja Bajaj Chadha Founder & CEO, ExtraMile explained. However, “companies are motivating their employees with cost-effective measures like digital engagement activities and of course, offbeat gifting,” she added.

Brands like Typhoo and Chumbak too have seen a conservative demand and budgets in corporate gifting but having varied products and ranges have helped them reduce the gaps.

Chumbak, a quirky retail brand that has an online as well as an offline presence in several cities in India has seen an overall dip in walk-ins in malls and high street shopping locations. “We’re experiencing a season that has had lower walk in’s than our initial expectation. However, by having an agile operational capability, focusing on higher conversion helps the brand, a spokesperson at Chumbak added.

But what are corporates gifting this year?
According to industry players like Batra, Goel and Ferns N Petals corporates have become more conscious on what to give to their clients. The demand, according to them, for Green gifts like plants, seedbox, electronic gifting items, utility products and edible hampers has increased significantly this year.

Pawan Gadia, CEO, Online & Retail, Ferns N Petals said that sales of their plants’ category are growing at 75 per cent on a YoY this festive season. “We have observed that mid-sized companies are doing more of gifting this year. However, ticket value has dropped compared to last year.” Gadia added.

RUR Greenlife pvt. Ltd is a company that makes utility products and along with furniture from used tetra packs has seen an uptick in their sales. According to Monisha Narke, CEO and Founder of RUR, people want products that have a story to tell, are viable or economical and thus products like pen stands and frames are being ordered in bulk.

While some companies are gifting greener options, others like Amadeus are gift boxes which include diyas and paintings made by differently-abled at an NGO called Giftabled. On the other hand, IT services management company, Mphasis is encouraging its employees to share their support with a charity of their choice out of the NGOs that Mphasis has tied up with.

Music and nature have always gone hand-in-hand for the multi-talented Adrian. He began making electronic music while studying Forestry Science at New Zealand’s University of Canterbury, and in the following years at the University of Otago while completing a degree in Botany. The natural world continues to be a common thread in Adrian's music through the exploration of sonic landscapes, where melody and rhythm play a secondary role to the textures created by synthesizers, wood flutes and the human voice. Woodlands is Rudy Adrian’s sixth release on the Spotted Peccary Label. His previous label releases include the immensely popular MoonWater, Desert Realms, Distant Stars, Atmospheres and Coastlines.

Adrian shares insights on the making of the album, noting that “all the music on Woodlands was created using a Yamaha SY77 synthesiser, and in some cases a Kurzweil K2000R sampler was additionally employed. A very small number of samples originate from Kit Watkins’ collection of sounds on Q-Up Arts Ambient Realms CD. Except for the two live improvisations, the music on this album was arranged as sequenced MIDI notes. I use Mark of the Unicorn’s Performer 2.31+ software on a one-megabyte Apple Macintosh Plus computer. Some vocal overdubs were done with Avid Technology’s Pro Tools sound design software at Taylormade Media.”

• Wrap it up – only commercially produced candy that’s fully wrapped should be eaten. Make sure that wrappers are tight and closures sealed before letting your kids rip into the goodies.

• Home-baked goodies – everyone loves the idea of a home-baked sweet, but unless you know who baked it, toss it.

• Treats on the go? Just say “No!” – eager trick-or-treaters will want to dive into their goodies immediately. Give them a light snack or meal before you hit the streets and urge your kids to wait until they get home so that you and they can inspect their sweets.

• Pasteurized cider only – it’s one of the best tastes of the season, but make sure that cider you’re drinking is pasteurized. Unpasteurized juice or cider could contain bacteria like Salmonella or E. coli.

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, October 23, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Andrew Jones Auctions’ upcoming Meteorite Auction on Saturday, November 9th, features nearly 100 lots of rare and important meteorite specimens in most classifications – Lunar, Martian, Iron, Stony, and Pallasite – with estimates ranging from $100 to $300,000. The sale will be held online and in the Andrew Jones gallery at 2221 South Main Street in downtown Los Angeles.

“We are delighted to bring the first dedicated sale of meteorites and moon rocks to the West Coast,” said company president and CEO Andrew Jones. One of the “stars” of the sale is an extremely rare Fukang Pallasite meteorite from China (est. $200,000-300,000). Discovered in 2000 in the Gobi Desert in China’s Xinjiang Province, the meteorite is estimated to be 4.5 billion years old. Pallasites represent less than one percent of all known meteorites. A relic of a disrupted planetoid, this full center slice is intricately composed of roughly 50 percent olivine crystals and 50 percent nickel-iron.

Also included are actual pieces of the moon. “Our broad selection of lunar meteorites includes the impressive feldspathic NWA 11273 lunar meteorite (est. $60,000-$80,000) found in April 2017 in Northwest Africa and weighing 419 grams,” Mr. Jones said. “What a gift that would make.”

The largest meteorite fall of recent times, the Sikhote-Alin, had a strewn field over six kilometers long and resembled a bomb site, with hundreds of trees ripped apart and deep holes gouged into the Earth’s surface. Among the Sikhote-Alins being offered is a large and complete individual specimen (est. $20,000-$30,000), beautifully polished and with deep thumbprint-like impressions, weighing 10,600 grams.

This sale has something for virtually every cosmic enthusiast, including a wide array of Iron Slices from world localities such as Australia, Greenland, Russia, Namibia, Nigeria and the United States. Included are specimens exhibiting the sought after Widmanstätten patterning, with estimates for individual slices ranging from $200 to $15,000.

From the space rocks that fall to Earth to the debris resulting from these collisions, this sale also offers a lovely group of impact glass. These Tektites form when huge meteorite impacts shower molten rock back up into the atmosphere, where they cool and eventually fall back down to Earth as impact glass. From the affordable mellow-yellow Libyan Desert Glass to the always endearing soft green Moldavites, estimates range from $100 to $300.
