BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, USA, May 26, 2020 / — Psychedelic Art Exchange is auctioning the legendary Ultrasounds Collection, the most extensive and finest quality collection of Pacific Northwest concert posters ever assembled. The posters in the Ultrasounds Collection were issued from the late 1970’s through the early 2000’s, with the bulk of the collection focused on the highly coveted and historically important period of 1985 – 1995.

"Ever since news leaked out that we are auctioning the Ultrasounds Collection, our phones have been ringing off the hook," stated Glen Trosch, President of Psychedelic Art Exchange. Many of the posters in the collection were designed by the legendary concert poster artist, Mike King. King is widely considered to be the most prolific poster artist in the history of the United States, having created over 6000 posters. In addition to concert posters, King has designed album covers for major bands such as Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Elliot Smith, and others.

"Historically important bands are a crucial first ingredient, but it’s the insanely great art that appears on these concert posters that make them so irresistible to collectors," explained Trosch. "Like the most popular artworks by Andy Warhol, King produced super smart work that brilliantly references Popular Culture."

The concert posters in the Ultrasounds Collection were created in tiny quantities, often less than 500. These low issue numbers, combined with the daily humidity and rain in the region, resulted in very low survival rates in undamaged condition. The Ultrasounds Collection represents the first chance for many collectors to acquire these posters in Museum Quality condition.

"All of the posters in our auction have been independently authenticated and graded by CGC, the leading third party authenticator of collectibles," added Trosch. "Collectors are excited because these are the very first posters from this era to be evaluated by CGC, and they have been preserved in pristine condition."

BRYN MAWR, PA, US, May 26, 2020 / — Social isolation and loneliness among older adults is one of the most serious health issues facing our country today. Combatting that problem is the goal of a new public-private partnership – the K.A.R.E.S. Community (Keystone Athletics, Recreation and Esports) – which will use virtual technology to bring Pennsylvania seniors together for Esports and electronic gaming fun.

KARES’ partners include its founder, health technology and innovation consultancy, EnableHealth; the PA Esports Coalition; Pittsburgh’s Jewish Healthcare Foundation; Geisinger Musculoskeletal Institute; Athletes for Care; RTI International; the KNGDM Group; the PA Office of Rural Health and the Keystone State Games, among others. The partnership is looking to pilot its first virtual activities at the next Keystone Games, re-scheduled now for October 2020.

Partnership leaders note that during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is nearly impossible for seniors, especially in rural areas, to congregate. Technology and virtual gatherings, however, have made it possible for older adults to remain engaged and maintain social connections. The objectives of this initiative are to leverage technology to enable seniors to participate virtually in friendly competitive sports and games in a fun and healthy environment.

About 28 percent of older adults in the United States, or 13.8 million people, live alone, and in a 2018 survey of 20,000 participants conducted by Cigna, nearly half (46%) of those surveyed reported that they felt alone sometimes or always. Perhaps no other age group feels the keen sting of loneliness more than seniors — a condition only exacerbated by COVID-19. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) agrees, adding that loneliness can also have clinical consequences. Research has linked social isolation and loneliness to higher risks for a variety of physical and mental conditions: high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, a weakened immune system, anxiety, depression, cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s disease, and even death.

Conversely, according to the NIH, people who engage in meaningful, productive activities with others tend to live longer, boost their mood, and have a sense of purpose. These activities seem to help maintain their well-being and may improve cognitive function.

The Initiative is currently identifying potential projects and partners from across PA, and has the support of the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, which recently published the results of a statewide survey. The survey was conducted by the Pennsylvania Council on Aging and sought to assess how older adults have been managing through the current pandemic. The survey reported that more than 25% of the 3,700 respondents said they would like to take advantage of virtual gaming if given the opportunity.

“Older Pennsylvanians enjoy sports, games and other ways to socialize and congregate for fun and fitness,” said Pennsylvania Secretary of Aging, Robert Torres, “I applaud the work of KARES, which seeks to safely and positively engage our senior community through the pioneering application of Esports and virtual gaming. I’m particularly encouraged by thier initial project which seeks to expand recreational opportunities for older adults through a partnership with the Keystone State Senior Games.”

Founded in 1983, the non-profit Keystone State Games, Inc. is a public/private partnership that has attracted over 500,000 participants of various age groups to their events, which provide a statewide, multi-sport program with an Olympic format to encourage and assist in preparing Pennsylvania’s athletes to enter national and international competitions.

“The Keystone Games are excited to be the first in the country to introduce a virtual element to senior games,” said longtime Executive Director, Jim Costello. “We will be looking to begin gradually by introducing a handful of online games for participants in our upcoming Fall Games and Expo, and then look to launch our first-ever virtual Winter Games in 2021, leveraging several Esports applications.” Concluding, Costello added “and it’s fitting we launch this new initiative in May, which is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month!”

For the second consecutive month, New Jersey iGaming operators have seen an increase in online poker revenue.

TRENTON, NEW JERSEY, UNITED STATES, May 26, 2020 / — For the second consecutive month, New Jersey iGaming operators have seen an increase in online poker revenue. Reports from April were released by the New Jersey Department of Gaming Enforcement showing that the Garden State generated $5.1 million in revenues for the month. This comes after a successful March when operators raked in $3.6 million, the previous monthly record.

Huge Increase in Earnings

April was a big month for poker in New Jersey. The online earnings were 208% higher than the same month in 2019. This was the first full month that land-based casinos were closed due to the coronavirus. While players could not physically go to a venue to play poker, they could easily log online. Residents of the state have turned to iGaming as a form of entertainment as they continue to practice social distancing during the pandemic.

Players in New Jersey have access to a wealth of websites that offer poker gaming. The WSOP and PokerStars are just a few examples of operators offering services in the state. Players often use poker website reviews to find sites that offer poker gaming options.

The reports showed PokerStars NJ was the top operator for the month, bringing in $2,066,293 in earnings. WSOP NJ was not far behind, earning $1,862,004. Coming in next was partypoker, with $1,220,076 in revenues.

Additional Online Gaming Earnings

According to CardPlayer, online gaming brought in an additional $74.8 million, which was an increase of 114% from last April. Sports may be shut down for the moment, but players still had access to some online options in the Garden State. A total of $2.6 million was earned in revenues, but most earnings came from obscure sports or international leagues.

From the total monthly iGaming revenues, the state managed to rake in $12.4 million in taxes. The industry is taxed at a 15% rate. During the first four months of 2020, the total gaming revenue for New Jersey is just over $833 million. This is much less than the previous year, then the first four months resulted in over $1 billion in earnings.

The state is hurting from nonessential business shutdown. It is unclear as to when casinos will reopen in the state. Governor Phil Murphy has yet to make the announcement involving a date when the nine gaming venues will reopen in Atlantic City.
