Like checkers, chess and Go, the rules of Kess are simple and can be learned in a few minutes. But like checkers, chess and Go, the skill ceiling is sky high and players discover new, deceptive and daring strategies every time they play.

The Kess “battlefield” is a seven-by-seven-inch grid of squares, just a bit smaller than a chess board, and each player gets 10 pieces. When the game begins, the action is fast and furious because each player gets five moves per turn, making for a quicker but more tactical playthrough. Each turn is more like an onslaught, rather than the execution of a single play. To take an opponent’s piece, it only needs to be surrounded on three sides.

During games, players formulate and unleash new formations to trick opponents and pull off merciless attack patterns.

Players engage in an audacious game of wits that lets them quickly slip into a “strategy brain” and they get totally lost in matches as they try and peer into the future, pick apart the board and attempt to predict the moves of their opponents.

Hundreds of strategies can be employed during a game and there are trillions of ways a game can unfold, allowing endless skill building and constant surprises.

Like all great strategy games, Kess forces players to utilize sneak attacks, fake-outs, perspective and decision-making in order to defeat their opponents.

Children love the ultra-simple rules and the colorful board and game pieces. Adults enjoy the hidden depth of the game, as it forces them to think outside the box as they balance offense and defense.

While the youngest Potters, princesses, and dinosaurs enjoy Halloween, they also get the added elements of fun and safety of living in the digital age.

While technology opens many positive avenues for families, research shows that it’s important to use devices in a healthy way. Parents can role model how to balance technology use with being present in the moment.

For some people, it’s second nature to pick up a phone for mindless scrolling once the pumpkin is carved, or when the bad actors in the low-budget movie are too painful to watch. Instead, parents can take the opportunity to nibble candy corn and interact with their kids in real life.

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, September 29, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Leading the second session of Pook & Pook, Inc.’s upcoming Americana & International auction is Crest of the Wave. It is a bronze sculpture by Harriet Whitney Frishmuth, a leading sculptor of early 20th-century America. She is known for her energetic pieces that capture athletic nudes in motion, like Joy of the Waters. It shows Slovenian model Desha Delteil jerking her foot away from a cold wave. After a patron saw Joy of the Waters in a neighbor’s garden, he wanted a version for himself. So Frishmuth created the modified Crest of the Wave piece in 1926 to prevent any feelings of competition between her neighboring patrons. The available bronze is one of 22 casts produced by the Gorham Foundry.

The upcoming sale will also present a bronze sculpture of a man’s head from one of Harriet Whitney Frishmuth’s contemporaries, Elie Nadelman. The subject wears a rounded hat tipped jauntily to one side. His features are sharp and defined with a particularly pointed chin. Born in Poland, Nadelman amassed a significant collection of folk art while sculpting almost exclusively in an early Greek style. The auction catalog includes bronze pieces from other key artists of the 20th century, including Malvina Hoffman, William Zorach, Eduardo Paolozzi, and Dame Elisabeth Frink.

Several notable pieces of fine art are on offer as well. Among them is a Mickey Mouse color screenprint from Andy Warhol’s Myths series. Launched in 1981, this series immortalized American pop culture icons and covered them in diamond dust. The available print is numbered 147 of 200. Collectors will also find a drawing from Damien Hirst that depicts a skull, butterfly, and shark, as well as a landscape painting by Eric Sloane. Antique furniture items will also be up for bid, including a Queen Anne walnut high chest, an American Federal three-part secretary desk, and a Chippendale marble and cherrywood side table.
